AIA-NEW JERSEY OFFICER NOMINATIONS

NOMINATIONS FOR 2009 CHAPTER OFFICERS

By Jerome Leslie Eben, AIA
2008 Nominations Committee Chair

What do you do when you become the immediate Past President of AIA New Jersey? Well for one thing you hope that you are not put out to pasture! While out there grazing, I discovered that I am to form a Nominations Committee. The following Past Presidents from the sections have signed on and Robert Emert, Jr, AIA, Kevin C. Gore, AIA, Jerome M. Larson, Sr, AIA and Grant Peatman, AIA have joined me on this important committee. We will go to work shortly, but first the obligatory important announcement to the entire membership via this article:

In accordance with Article 6.1 of our current Bylaws, this is to notify the members that nominations are being accepted for the 2009 Officers for AIA New Jersey . The open positions are President-Elect, First Vice President, Second Vice President, and Treasurer. Michael J. Hanrahan, AIA will continue serving as Secretary, in the second of his 2-year term. Stacey Ruhle Kliesch, AIA our current President-Elect will ascend to the office of President succeeding Seth A. Leeb, AIA upon his completion of service, early in January of 2009.

Those members who are interested in becoming officers of the Chapter should submit their names to the Nominations Committee for our certification of their eligibility for office in 2009. They must be post marked not later than April 29, 2008 or hand delivered by the end of the workday on that date.

Should the Nomination Committee fail to receive at least one candidate for each office about to become open, it shall actively solicit and place on the slate, qualified candidates for each office for which no candidate had previously been certified.

The following are the qualifications for Treasurer and the Vice President positions: A nominee for these positions shall be an assigned architect member in good standing of this Chapter and shall also meet any of the following eligibility criteria to certified by the Nominations Committee: Candidates shall have within five (5) years prior to the assumption of office, a) served for at least two (2) years as a Trustee of this Chapter, or b) have served at least two (2) years as officer of a Section, or c) have served the Chapter's Executive Committee.

The following are the qualifications for President-Elect: A nominee for this position shall be an assigned architect member in good standing of this Chapter and who has served one (1) full year as a member of the Chapter's Executive Committee prior to the assumption of office within three (3) years prior to the assumption of office.

The complete Bylaws of the Chapter, including the procedures and qualifications for nominations and elections, terms of office, and officers' responsibilities are available on the internet at www.aia-nj.org . in the AIA New Jersey Member Handbook, or by request from the office of the Chapter.
